Our Magnum Opus Story

With over 100 years of combined experience, a group of art material experts gathered in the summer of 2020 and agreed to start up a new Fine Art Material manufacturing facility in North Carolina. As a result, MG Art Products, LLC was established.

Michael Gorak has been creating and managing the manufacturing of artist materials at one of the oldest artist material manufacturers in North America for most of his adult life.

Throughout his journey in art business, he has collaborated with many professional artists, educators, influencers, hobbyists, and students. His love for art persisted along with his passion to do more with his lifelong accumulation of art industry knowledge. Always inspired to do more with the art world for future generations, he began the process to build MG Art Products from the ground up.

In the fall of 2020, a 40,000 square foot building was purchased in Archdale, North Carolina to serve as the main manufacturing hub. The renovation began in 2021 with hiring a contractor and engineer to draw up plans for the upfit. After the facility was gutted, all new LED lighting and an HVAC system were installed throughout.

A lab was constructed, and all the offices, lunchroom, bathrooms, and a hand-painting label room were freshened up to make an appealing and productive environment.

Along with the newly renovated facility, all new state-of-the-art computer-automated 3-roll mills, bow-tie oscillating mixers, high speed disperser and tube & bottle filling equipment were installed.

We collaborated with artists and a creative team who are first-in-class for product knowledge, testing and marketing. We combined them with chemical experts that develop modern processes and original formulations that enhance the artist’s experience. Equally important is our team of skilled artisans who have mastered and executed the process of color making with positive spirits and exceptional results.

Our mission is to manufacture the highest quality professional art products by instituting advanced processes and pigment formulations that go beyond the status quo while respecting and preserving the historical and archival integrity of the Old Masters era theories.

A message from MG:

“Creating art is a way for people to visually translate how wonderful our world can be by expressing your ideas and thoughts into something colorfully beautiful.

Color Inspires the imagination!”
